WW Concept - Steve and Diana by joshwmc WW Concept - Steve and Diana by joshwmc
Latest concept, this is a slightly altered version of how Diana and Steve meet for the first time, and as you can see it's a little awkward. :) This is actually linked to The Street Chase concept I did a week or so ago. I quite liked the loose brush strokes in this so I left off any major detailing, I cheated with the background, I had to be somewhere else today so I quickly threw something together in Photoshop, a little generic perhaps. Done mostly in Painter in a bout 3 1/2 hours.

Nifty! But why does Steve look like he has a nose piercing of some sort, and what do have against Diana's lasso? You never seem to add it.

I know, I know, I keep forgetting it, believe me I've got nothing against the lasso, I just keep forgetting it, it shouldn't be that hard to remember, right? :)

Here let me make it up to you for bringing up the Steve's uniform thing. At the time that Steve and Diana first met after his crash landing on the island, Diana had not yet been presented the lasso. Her mother still possessed it at that time.

So you are accurate, not forgetful :-)

This is great, there's an incredible intensity to it.
It doesn't seem like a first meeting to me, though, given their expressions... It feels more like perhaps the first time Steve witnesses her kill a mythical beast, or use full amazon ferocity in battle.

It seems like a moment of misunderstanding an uncertainty, the modern soldier watching the pure animal might of an ancient amazon and not knowing how to react. While the amazon turns to see a modern man, aiming a gun at her and looking at her with fear in his eyes.

Both of them seeing a side of each other they didn't realize was there, and perhaps didn't want to believe in.

Man, that's almost exactly the kind of situation I had in mind for this scene.

I've been enjoying your art for a while now, and the only reason I mention this is for continuity/accuracy.

The uniform insignia on Steve's sleeve is that of an enlisted Senior Airman (E-4), which has him working on the airplane not flying it. It's not a big deal unless you intend to feature the art someplace where such attention to detail becomes important.

I feel kind of odd mentioning it, and I usually don't nit pick, (especially given the amount of time you have already invested in the art) but generally it better to know, than not to know.

There is good news however. Being enlisted and not an officer, it did not take a (literal) act of Congress to make him a gentleman. :-)

Do they still slay the bearer of bad news on this planet?
